Shelton Named MoDOT District Engineer

JEFFERSON CITY - Mark Shelton, Jefferson City, has been named as the new district engineer for the Missouri Department of Transportation's Southeast District.   He'll start his new duties July 1.   Shelton replaces Scott Meyer, who left to take a job with Southeast Missouri State University.

Shelton has worked for MoDOT for almost 20 years and currently is the assistant state construction and materials engineer.   He has also worked in Materials for Districts 5 and 6 and the Central Office.   He has served as operations engineer for District 7 and field materials director for Central Office.

"Mark will bring a great deal of expertise, energy and enthusiasm to the Southeast District," said MoDOT Director Pete Rahn.   "We're pleased he accepted this position, and I know he's eager to get to work."

"I am very excited about this opportunity and look forward to working with MoDOT staff in the Southeast District, as well as the folks in the communities we serve," Shelton said.

Shelton, a licensed professional engineer, has a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla.   He and his wife, Sheila, have two daughters, Jordan, 14, and Katelyn, 10.

Headquartered in Sikeston, MoDOT's Southeast District serves Bollinger, Butler, Cape Girardeau, Dunklin, Madison, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Perry, Scott, St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve, Stoddard and Wayne counties.
