Signals, Turn Lanes Being Installed
At Route 60/160/FF Near Springfield
MoDOT, District 8, Springfield --
A project to install traffic signals, widen a ramp and add turn
lanes at the Route 60/160/FF interchange (James River Freeway
and West Bypass) between Springfield and Battlefield is scheduled
to begin the week of July 11.
During the work, drivers can expect
delays because of narrowed ramp lanes and possible lane closings,
the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Here's a look at what's planned:
* Two sets of traffic signals will
be installed at the interchange -- one set at either end of the
bridge.
* The new signals will have protected
left-turn arrows for northbound and southbound drivers wanting
to make turns onto the ramps.
* The eastbound off-ramp will be
widened to accommodate drivers wanting to turn north and south
onto Route 160/FF.
* Dual left-turn lanes will be created
for southbound traffic on Route 160 (West Bypass) turning onto
the eastbound on-ramp.
The scheduled completion date is
November 1. However, the contractor expects to finish the job
sooner.
The prime contractor
is Hartman Construction of Springfield doing the work for a low-bid
amount of $262,000.
