Amendment 3 Resurfacing Project Planned
For Route 13 Between Springfield and Bolivar

MoDOT, District 8, Springfield -- A project to resurface the northbound lanes of Route 13 between a point north of Springfield and a point south of Bolivar, funded by Amendment 3 dollars, is scheduled to begin the week of July 11, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

A contractor crew is scheduled to close one northbound lane at a time on Monday and possibly Tuesday, July 11 and 12, to grind the pavement.

Drivers can expect bumps on the pavement in areas until the roadway can be resurfaced either late in the week or early the week of July 18.

The grinding and resurfacing work will take place between a point north of Greene County Route WW north of Springfield and Polk County Routes Y/U south of Bolivar.

Asphalt will be laid at night between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. Contractor crews anticipate working seven nights a week to complete the project in two to three weeks.

The contractor doing the work, APAC-Missouri of Columbia, was not required to work at night. However, company officials chose to do the work at a time when traffic disruptions would be minimized.

The low bid for the 13.6-mile long project is $1.1 million.

Missouri voters approved Amendment 3 in November 2004. The increased funding is allowing MoDOT to resurface many of the most heavily-traveled roadways and to accelerate much needed road improvements throughout the state.
