Niec To Head MoDOT's North
Central District
MACON -- Dan Niec of Hannibal
has been named district engineer for the Missouri Department of
Transportation's North Central District, based in Macon.
Niec, who currently serves
as assistant district engineer in MoDOT's Northeast District,
will assume his new duties Sept. 1. He replaces Mike Bruemmer,
who is retiring.
"We're very pleased that
Dan has agreed to lead our North Central District," said MoDOT
Director Pete Rahn. "He's a highly regarded leader who has done
great work for the department for many years. I know Dan will
serve our customers well."
MoDOT's operations are
divided geographically into 10 districts. An engineer who is
responsible for overseeing the area's transportation operations
leads each district. Niec will handle transportation issues
in Mercer, Putnam, Schuyler, Grundy, Sullivan, Adair, Livingston,
Linn, Macon, Carroll, Chariton, Randolph, Saline and Howard counties.
Niec joined MoDOT in 1991
as a construction inspector in the St. Louis area. Since then
he has served in a variety of engineering positions, including
resident engineer and area engineer, before becoming assistant
district engineer for the Northeast District, based in Hannibal.
He is a registered professional
engineer with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the
University of Missouri-Columbia. Niec is also a lieutenant in
the U.S. Navy.
"I am looking forward
to the challenges of my new responsibilities," Niec said.
"This is an exciting time for MoDOT since the passage of
Amendment 3. The additional funds have allowed us make much
needed improvements to our system and to move critical projects
forward. I am particularly excited about the opportunity to
be directly involved with completion of the four-laning of Route
36 across northern Missouri."
