Public Hearing Set for August
25
For Two Route 38 Bridge Projects
MoDOT, District 8, Springfield --
A public hearing to present the designs for two bridge projects
on Route 38 in Wright County is scheduled for Thursday, August
25, in Hartville.
The open house-style meeting will
run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Hartville School cafeteria. MoDOT
engineers will be on hand to discuss the projects on a one-on-one
basis and show maps and exhibits.
The school is located on 175 N. School
Ave., just off Route 38 about a mile west of Route 5.
Work on each bridge is expected to
begin in the summer of 2006.
Route 38 will be closed at each bridge
during construction. No time estimate is available yet for the
road closings. Plenty of advance notice will be given when timelines
are developed.
The projects are:
* Building a new bridge over Bowman
Branch at Odin about 7-1/2 miles west of Hartville and removing
the existing bridge.
The new bridge will be 28 feet wide,
with two 12-foot wide driving lanes and 2-foot wide shoulders.
It will replace a 20-foot wide bridge built in 1935 that is striped
for one-lane of traffic because of a load limit.
* Replace the deck on the bridge over
Beaver Creek a mile east of Route 95 near Graff, or about 15 miles
east of Hartville.
The new Beaver Creek bridge deck will
be 22 feet wide, increased from the existing 20 feet. The bridge,
built in 1947, is striped for one lane of traffic, but it will
carry two-way traffic after the project is completed.
MoDOT will take written and oral comments
on the bridge projects during the August 25 hearing. Written comments
can be sent through Friday, September 9, to MoDOT, 910 Springfield
Road, Willow Springs, MO 65793.
