One-Lane Traffic for Pavement Sealing
On Route 5 Between Hartville and Lebanon

MoDOT, District 8, Springfield -- Drivers can expect one-lane traffic for two weeks on Route 5 between Hartville and Lebanon beginning the week after Labor Day, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

A project to seal the road using rock and oil is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 6, at Wright County Route V south of Hartville.

Here's a look at the schedule:

* September 6 through September 13 or 14 -- Route 5 will be sealed between Wright County Route V south of Hartville and Wright County Routes M/H at Grovespring.

This part of the operation, moving to the north, could take six to seven working days to complete. A short section of Route 5 in the city limits of Hartville will NOT be sealed.

* September 13 or 14 through September 20 or 21-- Route 5 will be sealed between Laclede County Route C south of Lebanon and progress south to Wright County Routes M/H at Grovespring. This portion of the sealing project is expected to take five working days to complete.

Lane closings will be 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

Flaggers will direct traffic. Expect to slow down and stop for a few minutes approaching the project.

A "pilot" pickup truck will lead vehicles through the work zone.

Rain or equipment problems could change the work schedule and delay the completion of the project.

Crews will close a 1-mile-to-1-1/2-mile section of one lane, then switch to the other lane to even out the work. Then the "chip-seal" operation will be moved to the next section.

Electronic message boards and orange signs will alert drivers to the road work.
