Route 63 Near Vienna Back Open to Traffic

JEFFERSON CITY – Route 63 south of Vienna in Maries County is back open to traffic after being closed due to flooding since Sunday.  The opening of Route 63 offers motorists the opportunity to take Route 63 to Jefferson City then Route 54 to Kingdom City to hit Interstate 70.

The Missouri Department of Transportation reminds travelers that Interstate 44 remains closed for 25 miles in St. Louis from Route 100 to Interstate 270. Motorists wishing to travel across Missouri should take Interstate 49 at Joplin north to Interstate 470 in Kansas City to connect to I-70 and then east to St. Louis.

In addition, Route 50 remains closed at Mt. Sterling in Gasconade County, as well as in Franklin County.

Flooding has closed numerous roads throughout the state. Drivers are advised to avoid these areas and seek alternate routes. Road conditions can change rapidly, and motorists are encouraged to check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map, located at www.modot.org, or call the department’s toll free number at 1-888-ASK-MODOT to get updated road conditions.

Motorists should take extra care in their travels during this time and never attempt to get around roadway barriers or drive across flooded roadways. MoDOT also recommends allowing extra travel time if detours are necessary.
