JEFFERSON CITY - Rudy Farber, chairman of the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission, issued the following statement this morning in response to the announcement by Senator Mike Kehoe, Senator Ryan McKenna, Representative Dave Hinson and Representative Dave Schatz, that they would introduce transportation funding bills in the Senate and House.
"We thank Senators Kehoe and McKenna and Representatives Schatz and Hinson for their visionary leadership in announcing a funding measure that could truly address Missouri's transportation system needs for the next decade. Improvements made possible by the proposed one-cent sales/use tax would benefit every citizen. Safer highways, less congestion, and a stronger economy with more than a quarter-million supported jobs are to be expected should Missouri voters agree. We appreciate the Legislature's attention to the importance of investment in Missouri's transportation system."
