JEFFERSON CITY - One lucky artist could see their artwork or photograph take off to new heights with the Missouri Department of Transportation. MoDOT's Aviation unit is hosting an art contest to find a winning image for the cover of its 2011-2012 Aeronautical Chart.
Participants are encouraged to enter airport-related photographs or artwork in any medium and should include the title "Missouri 2011-2012 Aeronautical Chart." The winning submission will be printed on the chart, which contains aeronautical information on controlled airspace, airport data, visual and radio aid navigation, restricted areas, obstructions and related data for visual flight navigation in Missouri. It is distributed to airports, legislators, various state departments of transportation, universities and science museums.
Participation is open to all U.S. residents. Color or black and white artwork or photographs are acceptable, but must be in a 5.5 in. x 12 in. or 140 mm x 305 mm format, or the nearest possible equivalent. Artwork must not be framed or outlined with borders. Copies of original art may be submitted for judging, but the winning entry must be provided to MoDOT in its original form after the contest for production.
All entries should also include the contestant's name, address, title (if applicable) and a statement of authenticity. Once received, entries become the property of the state of Missouri and may be used for a variety of purposes. Entries must be postmarked or e-mailed by Friday, December 31, 2010 to: Bryant Walker, P.O. Box 270, Jefferson City, MO 65102 or email@example.com.
