JEFFERSON CITY -- With a record amount of highway construction going on this year, Missouri motorists can expect delays. But where will they be, and when will work be going on? The Missouri Department of Transportation's Web site shows up-to-the-minute information on work zone locations and delays.
"Highway work is everywhere this year," said MoDOT Director Pete Rahn. "Our Web site shows travelers ahead of time where delays are and helps them choose alternate routes. We're doing all we can to help drivers travel safely and quickly."
MoDOT's work zone map is located at www.modot.org/workzonemap.
The easy-to-understand map allows motorists to organize their work zone search by trip origin and destination, route or region. Color-coded icons display active sites by degree of delay. Click on a location for more detailed information on specific work zones, such as the duration of the work zone, the type of work being done and expected lane closures. These displays can be printed out for reference.
Links to traffic information systems in Kansas City, St. Louis and Springfield provide urban travelers with more detail.
