MoDOT News Release

Southwest District Office

October 05, 2017 08:58 AM
Northbound Route 65 Traffic Move to New Springfield Lake Bridge DELAYED UNTIL MONDAY NIGHT, OCT. 9

What: Northbound Route 65 traffic to move from southbound lanes to new bridge over Springfield Lake DELAYED

When: After 7 p.m. MONDAY, OCT. 9

Why: Northbound Route 65 bridge over Springfield Lake has been replaced with a new wider structure

Traffic Impacts:

  • Northbound Route 65 traffic will remain two lanes across bridge until the new northbound and southbound inside lanes between Route 60 and Evans Road receive a top layer of new asphalt and receive paving striping
  • Northbound Route 65 traffic will no longer shift through the median to the southbound Route 65 bridge over Springfield Lake after Tuesday, Oct. 10
  • Drivers are urged to continue to use caution in the area as contractor crews finish up the six-laning project which will be completed by Nov. 1

(Weather or construction delays could alter the work schedule.)

Project Summary:

  • Widen Route 65 to six lanes — three lanes in each direction — between Route 60 and a point south of Evans Road
  • Widen and rehabilitate southbound Route 65 bridge over Lake Springfield to accommodate new lanes and to lengthen eastbound Route 60-to-southbound Route 65 ramp
  • Replace northbound Route 65 bridge over Lake Springfield with new, wider span to replace old bridge in constant need of repair
  • Extend northbound Route 65 ramps to Route 60

Prime Contractor: Emery Sapp and Sons, Columbia

Completion Date: November 2017

Total Project Cost: $21 million.
