St. Louis Work Zones for August 17-23

ST. LOUIS –The Missouri Department of Transportation is limiting work zones this weekend and on Monday, August 21, to help manage the flow of traffic around the area due to Monday’s total solar eclipse.

Work zones with permanent lane closures, such as on eastbound I-44/northbound I-55 in St. Louis City and eastbound I-64 across the Mississippi River, will remain in place, and crews may work behind barrier wall.

Drivers who are heading to view the eclipse, or to eclipse events, are encouraged to leave early to get to the location where they are planning to view the eclipse. With a lot more traffic on the roadway, roadway incidents like crashes may significantly impact traffic flow and delay drivers. Once drivers get to the location, they are encouraged to stay in place and wait until well after the event or eclipse viewing is over to give traffic an opportunity to disperse after the eclipse.

For more information on traveling during the eclipse or other eclipse tips, please visit http://www.modot.org/Eclipse/.

Crews will completely close northbound I-55 between Lafayette and the Poplar Street Bridge on Saturday, August 19 from 1 to 6 a.m. Crews will close two additional lanes (three total) on northbound I-55 in the same location on Friday, August 18 from 8 p.m. until 1 a.m. and from 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday, August 19.

For additional work zone information and real-time roadway weather conditions, go to http://traveler.modot.org/map.  For real-time traffic, visit www.gatewayguide.com. All work is weather permitting and may be shifted due to inclement weather.
