Both Directions of I-44 Closed in St. Louis County

JEROME, Mo. – Eastbound Interstate 44 near Jerome in Phelps County (mile marker 172) is open to traffic after being closed due to flooding. Jerome is located just west of Rolla. Westbound I-44 remains closed with traffic exiting at Rolla (mile marker 186).
Both directions of I-44 are closed in St. Louis County at 1:30 a.m. today. The closure is between Bowles Avenue in West St. Louis County and Route 100 in Franklin County due to flooding of the Meramec River at Route 141. The closure is between mile marker 254 and 274 and is expected to last a few days. With many other roads closed in the St. Louis area, the open roads are experiencing extreme congestion.
Motorists needing to travel across Missouri are encouraged to use I-70 to I-49 southbound in Kansas City to I-44 in Joplin or the reverse depending on eastbound or westbound travel..
