ST. LOUIS - The Missouri Department of Transportation has closed all lanes of eastbound Interstate 64 at Route K in St. Charles County. The entrance ramps from Route 94, Route K and Research Park to eastbound I-64 are also closed.Crews must remove a crane that broke free on the Missouri River. The crane is currently resting against a truss on the eastbound Daniel Boone Missouri River Bridge. The bridge and the interstate will remain closed in the eastbound direction until crews can remove the crane and inspect the bridge for damage. Motorists should use Interstate 70, Route 364/Page and Route 94 as alternate routes. This closure is not part of the planned closure of I-64 at the nearby Chesterfield Parkway West Bridge, which is moving ahead as scheduled at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 4. Even after the barge is removed from the eastbound bridge, only one lane will be open through the weekend. All lanes of eastbound I-64 will not reopen until early Monday, April 7. Additional information about that closure is available at MoDOT's St. Louis District Website. For more information about roadway conditions and incidents in Missouri, please visit the Traveler Information Map at http://traveler.modot.org/map or call MoDOT's Customer Service Center toll-free at 1-888 ASK MODOT (275-6636).
