Crashes Close Interstate 44 in Webster County

JEFFERSON CITY, MO - The Missouri Department of Transportation reports two crashes have closed sections of Interstate 44 in Webster County. As of 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 5, MoDOT anticipates the affected sections of I-44 could remain closed for at least two hours, and potentially longer due to the hazardous weather conditions.

The crashes are located at:

  • Eastbound I-44, at mile marker 96, Webster County, between Springfield and Marshfield
  • Westbound I-44, at mile marker 111, Webster County, between Marshfield and Conway

Motorists are advised to avoid the area. If you are already traveling on the interstate, slow down, use caution, and consider pulling off and finding shelter until the highway reopens.

MoDOT urges against travel throughout the duration of the winter storm. Continuous snowfall keeps roads covered, and gusty winds and extreme low temperatures increase the danger of being stranded on the side of the road.
