Flooding Continues to Disrupt Amtrak Missouri River Runner Service

(This news release contains information about the state sponsored Amtrak Missouri River Runner Service.  It is being redistributed by the Missouri Department of Transportation in partnership with Amtrak.)

JEFFERSON CITY - Amtrak service between St. Louis and Kansas City will continue to be affected by flooding through next week.  Passengers with travel plans on the Missouri River Runner route are urged to call 800-USA-RAIL for additional information.

Missouri River Runner (Trains 311 & 316)
Through Tuesday, July 19, one of the Amtrak Missouri River Runner round-trips between St. Louis and Kansas City is temporarily suspended.  This is due to the diversion of additional Union Pacific Railroad freight traffic from flooded tracks onto the Union Pacific route used by the Missouri River Runner trains west of Jefferson City.

The canceled round-trip is Train 311, the morning westbound train from St. Louis, and Train 316, the afternoon eastbound train from Kansas City.  Alternate transportation by chartered motorcoach will be provided only to and from St. Louis, Kirkwood, Jefferson City, Sedalia, Warrensburg and Kansas City.  Passengers will also be directed to Amtrak Missouri River Runner Trains 313 & 314, which will continue to operate, and to the Amtrak Southwest Chief (Trains 3 & 4), which uses a different route east of Kansas City.

Amtrak regrets any inconvenience. This information is correct as of the above time and date. Information is subject to change as conditions warrant. Passengers are encouraged to call 800-USA-RAIL or visit Amtrak.com for schedule information and train status updates.
