Reduce Your Carbon Footprint

Each of us has a role to play in reducing our carbon emissions.   Choices on what we eat, how we live, what we throw away and how we travel can all affect the amount of pollution we produce.  Each time we make a decision in these areas, we have a chance to make a difference.

How can you make a difference? By simply looking at alternate modes of transportation and choosing to utilize those that are available in your area, you can reduce your carbon footprint significantly. Some examples for decreasing your carbon footprint by using public transportation include:

  • Find bus routes in your area that are convenient for you to take to work, store, or social event.
  • If available, purchase passes for public transportation. You'll be saving money and decreasing your carbon footprint at the same time.
  • Take the train instead of driving on your next weekend trip. Not only will you be decreasing your carbon footprint, you might find it a relaxing mode of public transportation.
  • Research your travel destination city's public transportation routes. It may be more convenient and less costly to use subways, buses, or trolleys than renting a car.
