Kathy Harvey was appointed assistant chief engineer on Aug.
15, 2013. In this capacity she helps build the longterm vision of MoDOT and
supports the strategic direction of the executive team.
Harvey is a graduate of
University of Missouri – Rolla, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree
in Civil Engineering.
Soon after graduation Harvey went to work in the private sector, kick starting her career as a geotechnical engineer for a firm in Colorado Springs, Colorado. From there she moved into subdivision planning as a civil engineer where she began learning the skills in leadership that would move her into a career of public service.
After returning to Missouri, Harvey began her career with MoDOT in 1991 as an intermediate highway designer. She moved up the career ladder until becoming MoDOT's state design engineer. In that capacity, Harvey became knownas an advocate for innovative contracting methods and practical design. As assistant chief engineer, Harvey will help build the vision for the department's future and support the strategies of the executive team.
