Several Lane Changes and Closures Scheduled for I-435 Project Next Week

KANSAS CITY – Crews from the Missouri Department of Transportation will have several lane closures next week as part of the project along the I-435 corridor. Motorists can expect night or daytime closures in both eastbound and westbound lanes EVERY DAY beginning July 16, 2018. Much of this work includes paving, placing construction barrier, striping and shifting traffic to prepare for the next phases of construction. Crews have minimized impacts as much as possible to work over night or during non-peak hours, but still cautions motorists to watch for active work zones. Closures include:

Monday July 16: Crews will slightly shift the eastbound traffic overnight on July 16. Beginning at 9 p.m., they will CLOSE the inside two lanes of eastbound I-435 from Holmes to Grandview to restripe. All lanes will be open by 5 a.m. This will allow work on the bridges over 104th Street and the Blue River.

Daily from Tuesday July 17 to Friday July 20, as well as Monday July 23 and Tuesday July 24: The outside lane of eastbound I-435 will be CLOSED daily from Holmes to the Grandview Road Bridge beginning at 4 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The contractor will be placing barrier wall each day.

Tuesday July 17: The outside lane of eastbound I-435 will be CLOSED overnight from State Line Road to Wornall Road from 6:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.  A second lane will be closed from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.  The contractor will be paving on the State Line Road on-ramp to eastbound I-435.

Wednesday July 18: The outside lane of westbound I-435 will be CLOSED overnight from Holmes Road to Wornall Road from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.  The auxiliary lane will ALSO CLOSE at 9 a.m. and stay closed until 4 p.m. the following day.  The contractor will be paving behind the barrier wall.

Friday July 20 to Sunday July 22:  Two outside lanes of westbound I-435 will be CLOSED all weekend from 104th Street to Holmes Road from 7 p.m. on Friday July 20 and will not reopen until 6 p.m. on Sunday July 22.  A single lane closure will start on Friday July 20 at 10 a.m. to relocate the barrier from 104th Street to Holmes Road.  The contractor will be paving behind the barrier wall from Holmes to Wornall Road on westbound I-435.
