Traffic changes coming to I-435 and Route 210 in Clay County

CLAY COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will make the following changes as part of an ongoing Route 210 and I-435 Interchange Improvement Project. These changes will eventually lead to a traffic pattern switch and removal of the southbound I-435 bridge over Route 210. All work is weather dependent.

Crews will reduce southbound I-435 at Route 210 to one lane from 9 a.m. until noon on Tuesday, July 10 for inlet repair work.

Crews will reduce northbound I-435 at Route 210 to one lane from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10 and again Wednesday, July 11 for temporary barrier work.

Crews will reduce southbound I-435 at Route 210 to one lane from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 12 for pavement marking and traffic switch work.

Immediately following the southbound I-435 at Route 210 closure on Thursday, July 12, southbound I-435 traffic will shift to the northbound I-435 lanes in a head-to-head configuration at Route 210 until further notice.

This is all part of a project to build a new diverging diamond interchange for I-435 and Route 210, which includes replacing the old twin bridges over I-435 and Route 210 and widening I-435.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
