I-470 Open For Memorial Day Weekend ? More Bridge Work Starts May 29

LEE’S SUMMIT – Just in time for Memorial Day Weekend, the Missouri Department of Transportation has OPENED ALL LANES of Interstate 470 between Blue Ridge Blvd. and Pryor Road. The bridge rehabilitations at Little Blue River, Cedar Creek, View High Drive, and James A. Reed Road have been completed. The next step of this extensive I-470 bridge rehabilitation project is to rehabilitate the I-470 bridges at Blue Ridge Blvd. and the Kansas City Southern Railroad. This work will begin on Tuesday, May 29, and last until approximately late August. All work is weather permitting.

  • There will be various lane closures NIGHTLY along Interstate 470 between Three Trails Crossing and James A. Reed Road beginning on Tuesday, May 29, until Friday morning, June 1. The work will begin at 8 p.m. each evening, with all lanes open by 5 a.m. the following mornings. These lane closures are for striping removal.
  • Crews will reduce Interstate 470 to TWO LANES in each direction between the Three Trails Crossing (Grandview Triangle) and James A. Reed Road beginning on Friday morning, June 1 until approximately late August for bridge rehabilitation work.
  • The ramp at Blue Ridge Blvd. onto westbound I-470 will remain closed.

This work is all a part of the extensive I-470 bridge rehabilitation project that will repair 15 bridges along the I-470 corridor. Please use the zipper merge at the merge point. Take turns. Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE ZONES. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive alive.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
