Crews Will CLOSE Route 2 Beginning May 18

CASS COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will CLOSE Route 2 completely beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 18, until approximately Thursday, Aug. 16. This road closure is so that crews can rehabilitate the Route 2 bridge over Interstate 49. Motorists are encouraged to follow the signed detours or use an alternate route. All work is weather permitting.

  • Beginning on Friday, May 18, crews will reduce northbound and southbound I-49 at Route 2 to ONE LANE as traffic will be diverted up and over the ramps and back onto I-49. This lane reduction is for the demolition of Route 2 bridge.
  • Southbound I-49 will remain in this configuration until approximately 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 19.
  • Northbound I-49 will remain into this configuration until approximately 6 a.m. on Monday, May 21.
  • This work may be accompanied by various lane closures along I-49 throughout the timeline of project.
  • Route 2 will remain closed from Friday, May 18, until approximately Thursday, Aug. 16.

Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
