Crews will Reduce Lanes of I-470 at Douglas St. AND Close Douglas St. over I-470 on Mar. 30

LEE’S SUMMIT – The Missouri Department of Transportation will reduce lanes of Interstate 470 at the Douglas Street Bridge beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 30, until 5 a.m. on Sunday, April 1. I-470 motorists will be re-routed using the on and off ramps and back onto I-470.  In addition, Douglas Street will be CLOSED between Colbern Road and the south end of the Douglas Street Bridge over I-470 during the demolition.

These closures are so that crews can demolish and reconstruct the west half (southbound) side of the Douglas Street Bridge over I-470. This project will be completed in two phases with Phase 1 reconstructing the west half of the bridge until mid-June, and Phase 2 reconstructing the east half of the bridge afterwards. The project is expected to be completed by mid-September 2018.

  • Lane closures on northbound and southbound Douglas Street, as well as exit ramps, will be in place throughout the project.
  • The left turn lane from southbound Douglas Street to eastbound I-470 will be CLOSED throughout the project.

Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
