Work rescheduled: Double lane closure at the I-29/I-35 split in Kansas City

PLATTE COUNTY – Due to the growing excitement and the uncertainty in which the 2017 solar eclipse will bring, The Missouri Department of Transportation has decided to reschedule a weekend double lane closure at the I-29/I-35 split in Kansas City.

Originally, the project was slated for 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18 and continuing through 4 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21 for mill and fill pavement work. This 24/7 closure will now occur the following weekend. More details on the specific time of the closure will come later.

The double closure will involve one lane of southbound I-29 beginning at the Parvin Rd. Bridge. This closure will cause southbound I-29 traffic to merge through portions of I-35.

The right lane (lane 2) of southbound I-35 will also be closed. The double closure will push all southbound traffic in the left-most lane of I-29. During the same time period, The Parvin Rd. ramps to and from southbound I-29 and the ramp from I-29 southbound to Route 210 will also be closed. All work is weather dependent.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
