Work will cause closures/traffic patten changes on I-435 at Route 210

CLAY COUNTY – Several work phases are set to take place as part of the I-435 and Route 210 Interchange Improvement Project. All work is weather dependent.

The Missouri Department of Transportation will perform the following work:

Crews will close the left lanes of northbound and southbound I-435 over Route 210 from 8 p.m. Thursday, June 1 through 7 a.m. Friday, June 2 for removing temporary barriers and for pavement marking work. Note: The left lane of northbound I-435 will be shifted to southbound I-435 in a contraflow (traffic flows in the opposite direction of the surrounding lanes) configuration over Route 210. During this configuration, large semi-trucks will only be able to use the center lane due to the width.

Crews will close two lanes of northbound I-435 at Front St. to Route 210 from 8 p.m. Friday, June 2 until 5 a.m. Monday, June 5 for bridge demolition. In addition, crews will close westbound Route 210 at Randolph Rd. from 8 p.m. Friday, June 2 until 5 a.m. Monday, June 5 for bridge demolition. Crews will close eastbound Route 210 at the southbound I-435 ramp from 8 p.m. Friday, June 2 until 5 a.m. Monday, June 5 for bridge demolition.

This is all part of a project to build a new diverging diamond interchange for I-435 and Route 210, which includes replacing the twin bridges on I-435 over Route 210 and widening I-435.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
