Demolition of 155th Street Bridge at I-49 Happening Early February
Traffic will be Impacted for Several Months in Area Due to Construction

CASS/JACKSON COUNTIES – Motorists traveling in the vicinity of Interstate 49 and 155th Street in Cass and Jackson counties beginning Friday, Feb. 10, will need to take a signed detour or be aware that traffic may be affected due to bridge demolition and construction, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation.

Beginning at 10 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, crews will begin demolishing the 155th Street Bridge and all traffic from I-49 will be diverted to one lane on the 155th Street ramps until 5 a.m., Monday, Feb. 13. On Monday morning, I-49 will be re-opened to traffic with two lanes northbound and southbound to allow for bridge construction in the median until Friday, March 24. The southbound off ramp and on ramp will also be closed for construction on the west side of I-49 on 155th St. Motorists may want to consider taking alternate routes during peak travel times.

Due to the bridge construction, 155th St. will be closed until the bridge is completed by Dec. 1. These are the signed detours:

  • Westbound detour – Kelley Road north to Route 150 west, to Botts Road south, to Westover Road/Andrews Road south, to 155th St.
  • Eastbound detour – Andrews Road/Westover Road north to Botts Road north, to Route 150 east, to Kelley Road south, to 155th St.Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work.

Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway. MoDOT urges all motorists to be alert, obey warning signs and use caution when driving through work zones.
