More traffic to be transferred to the new US 69 Mo River Bridge

PLATTE/WYANDOTT COUNTIES – Crews will transfer northbound traffic from the Old Platte Purchase Bridge to the new US 69 Missouri River Bridge beginning at 12 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1. Prior to the transfer, crews will close northbound 69 traffic beginning 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31.

Northbound US 69 will be closed at Kindleberger Rd. During the same time period, the northbound US-69 ramp to Argosy Casino Parkway will be closed and will remain closed until the new ramp is connected to the newly constructed lanes of northbound US-69. This work should take approximately four weeks. This work should not impact southbound US-69. All work is weather dependent.

This is all part of a project to replace the current U.S. 69 Highway Bridge over the Missouri River. A new structure will be constructed in its place and will include multiple lanes and bike/pedestrian access. It will be open to traffic in December 2016.

The Missouri Department of Transportation urges all motorists to always wear safety belts, follow posted speed limits and be alert for slowed traffic, narrowed lanes or a reduced number of lanes during construction and maintenance work.
