Roundabout Construction Will Close Brink-Meyer Road in Parkville

PARKVILLE, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Transportation will close Brink-Meyer Road between Union Chapel Road and Hidden Valley Road to construct a new, smaller roundabout south of the Route 45 and Route K roundabout in Parkville. Brink-Meyer Road will close beginning March 29 through August, weather permitting. A signed detour will be in place.

The smaller roundabout is needed to complete the project at Route 45 and Route K. This portion of the project includes constructing a new, relocated Union Chapel Road, tying new pavement into Brink-Meyer and extending the relocated Union Chapel north into the completed roundabout.

This project, which began in August 2009, has gone through many phases to reach this point. Crews already completed a roundabout at Route 45 and Route K, which entailed relocating a portion of Route K to the west.  Union Chapel Road currently ties into Route 45, requiring the relocation of Union Chapel to the west.

In this next phase of construction, crews will begin constructing relocated Union Chapel Road to tie into Brink-Meyer and continue north using the new, smaller roundabout.

Crews will complete the project by tearing out sections of the old pavement no longer needed on existing Union Chapel, Brink-Meyer and Route K. All work will be complete by August 2010.

This roundabout work is one of several projects scheduled for the busy Route 45 corridor. Construction is scheduled to begin this summer to add an additional lane in each direction to Route 45 from Route 9 to Route K and resurfacing Route 45 from Route K to I-435.
