MoDOT Kansas City Area District News Release
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Northbound traffic on Interstate 70 to Interstate 35 has been reduced to one lane from Admiral Boulevard to Independence Avenue, as part of the current traffic switch - moving the northbound and southbound inside lanes head to head along Interstate 35. The posted speed limit is reduced to 45 mph through this area. This traffic configuration is in effect until mid-2010.
Earlier this week, motorists were moved to inside lanes to run head-to-head alongside of southbound traffic from Independence Avenue to the Paseo Boulevard ramp exit, so work may begin on the new Paseo Boulevard ramp exit.
The Paseo Boulevard ramp bridge will be demolished and rebuilt, with new, right-side merge access for northbound motorists to enter the flow of interstate traffic. The old ramp bridge demolition will begin next week. Grading work will start immediately in the area. kcICON Project officials continue to ask motorists to take other routes and consider alternative modes of transportation, when possible.
All construction activities are weather dependent and subject to change. Updated lane closure information for the kcICON Project can be found on the project's Web site at http://www.kcicon.com/ or by calling the information hotline at 816-841-8888.
