MoDOT Kansas City Area District News Release
Kerri Lewis 816-622-6328
PLATTE COUNTY, Mo - An accident involving an overturned truck on the Route 45 Bridge over Sugar Creek, approximately one mile south of the Buchanan County Line has closed Route 45. Emergency crews are on the scene and will reopen the bridge to one lane when the area is cleared, by the end of the day.
Motorists using this route should expect delays, as the bridge will be reduced to one lane during repairs on the structure. Traffic will move through the area via flagging operations until a temporary traffic signal can be put in place to help guide traffic across the bridge.
The bridge, built in 1938, carries approximately 6978 vehicles per day. A new bridge is scheduled for construction in the next four years as part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program to replace more than 800 of Missouri's worst bridges.
