1. Can I place a sign on the MoDOT right of way to advertise my business?

2. How do I determine where your right of way is?

Can I place a sign on the MoDOT right of way to advertise my business?

Answer: No. It is not permissible to erect outdoor advertising on the state right of way. The governing policy can be read in our Engineering Policy Guide under 236.16 Outdoor Advertising and the specific Missouri Revised Statutes are 227.220 and 226.500. Further information can be obtained from Aaron Distler at 573-751-7187 or e-mail.

How do I determine where your right of way is?

Answer: Our right of way limits vary depending upon the route and certain roadway features. To determine the right of way limits along your frontage, please contact our microfilm department at 816-607-2202.
