Project Status: State and local officials open the westbound Route 50 bridge over the new Route 13 corridor east of town on Monday, Nov. 9.

Why is MoDOT doing this project?

Safety, MoDOT’s first priority, is the leading factor for work on Route 13. These projects will help reduce congestion, improve existing public safety and improve economic development opportunities.

How does this project benefit me?

The regional planning councils along the Route 13 corridor view this project as part of a regional goal to provide an improved highway between the northern Kansas City area and I-70. These  improvements are part of an overall plan to bring increased traffic to the area as well as serve as a relief to other corridors serving the same area of the state.

What is the project time line?

Both projects are scheduled to be complete by the end of 2010.

How is this project funded?

Funds were committed in the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program. Amendment 3 funds have also been committed to the project.
