Project Information

PROJECT UPDATE: Grandview hosted a project ribbon cutting on Nov. 22, 2017. Check out photos here:

Why is MoDOT doing this project?
The existing bridge is over 60 years old, and needs replaced.

What are the benefits to the community?

At the completion of the project, pedestrian accommodations will be in place on both sides of the bridge. Wider lanes and shoulders will also be provided, along with new traffic signals at the intersections of Main St. and the outer roads.

The City of Grandview is also providing several enhancements on the new bridge. These enhancements will complement the recent improvements along Main St. west of the bridge.

What impact will this project have on traffic?
I-49 will be reduced to one lane in each direction during bridge demolition, traffic will utilize the outer roads to bypass the work. Northbound I-49 will be reduced to two lanes during construction of the median bridge piers.

Main St. will remain open during construction, only one lane will be available in each direction. Left turns from Main St. to the outer roads will not be permitted.

Pedestrian access across I-49 will be maintained throughout the project.

What will this project cost? How will it be paid for?
The project was awarded to Radmacher Brothers Excavating Co. for $3.04 million. The project utilizes a combination of State and federal funds.

Who can the public contact if they need more information?
Resident Engineer, James Pflum (816) 353-8353 or Matt Killion, Area Engineer (816) 622-0500.
