What is the design?
In September 2008, the Missouri Department of Transportation, City of Liberty, and Kansas City held a public hearing on preliminary plans for constructing the Flintlock Flyover, an overpass over Interstate 35 connecting North East Flintlock to Liberty Drive.
After reviewing these plans and discussing them with the City of Liberty and other partners, a new plan was identified that will eliminate the need to build a road through the heavily wooded area and creeks. The redesigned option is less intrusive to the environment by using more of the existing roadway.
Rather than continuing north from Flintlock, the new road would be built off Liberty Drive closer to the school, allowing users of the shared use path to have closer access to the school and surrounding community.
