TE Funding

Funding and Application Details:

  • $40 million statewide (75% sub allocated, 25% MoDOT)
  • Mid America Regional Council (MARC) Area
  •  $5,334 million = $2,899,338.00 (2012 funds) + $2,434,662.00 (2013 funds)
  • Projects submitted by LPA on MARC TE Application Form to MARC staff and prioritized by MARC TE committee.
  • Projects 75% federally funded for construction and construction engineering only.
  • KC non-MPO Area
  • $900,000.00 = $489,202.00 (2012 funds) + $410,798.00 (2013 funds)
  • Projects submitted on KC District TE Application Form by LPA to KC district staff and prioritized by KC district rural TE committee.
  • Projects 80% federally funded.

        Program Overview:

  • Focus on infrastructure.
  • $500,000 max. per project
  • SRTS activities are eligible for TE funds without the safe routes to school program rules, but are funded at 80/20 federal share.  To be considered for both TE and SRTS funds separate applications must be submitted for each funding type.
  • Transportation museums are no longer eligible.
  • Funding represents remaining SAFETEA-LU funds and 2013 MAP-21 funds.  2014 funding process and rules established by MAP-21 transportation legislation have not been determined yet.

SRTS Funding

Funding and Application Details:

$4.2 million statewide

  • Projects submitted on SRTS application form by LPA to MoDOT central office. 
    • Utilizing District TE committee structure to score and rank SRTS projects. Project selection by statewide SRTS committee.

Program Overview:

  • Standard SRTS rules apply.
  • Projects 100% federally funded.
  • $250,000 max. infrastructure
  • $25,000 max. non-infrastructure
  • Funding represents 2012 and left over SRTS funds from SAFETEA-LU

TE Funding Application Submittal and Selection:

  • September 3, 2012 – Call for projects
  • October 3, 2012, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.-Application Workshop for TE & SRTS at KC district Lee’s Summit office
  • October 4, 2012, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.-Application Workshop for TE & SRTS at Pioneer Trails in Concordia
  • Attendance is encouraged but considered optional.  The October 3 & 4 workshop will present the same information so it is only necessary to attend one.
  • November 5, 2012 –Applications are due
  • January 7, 2013 – Project selection announcement


Other Information:

Consultant pro-bono application preparation will result in the consultant being ineligible for consideration as the project design consultant.
