Why is MoDOT doing this project?
Broadway Bridge over I-670 is aging and has been scheduled for deck replacement or extensive rehabilitation in the next year or so. But even a rehabilitated bridge might only provide 10 more years of good service before recurring repairs would make it more cost-effective to replace it by then.
How will this project benefit me?
MoDOT will replace the bridge with a slightly wider bridge with twice as much sidewalk space to accommodate patrons of the Performing Arts Center and Bartle Hall.
What is the project time line?
Construction will begin early this spring, with bridge removal likely in May. MoDOT is committed to replace and re-open the bridge by no later than mid-September, 2011.
How is this project funded?
The approximate $6 million project will be funded by state, federal and local funds budgeted for the work.
