This project will improve traffic operations at the junction of I-470 and Routes US 50/MO 350. Geometric changes to the I-470/US 50/MO 350 Interchange include the addition of half-diamond interchanges at Pryor Road and Blue Parkway. Ultimately, connector roads spanning US 50 and MO 350 will join the two half-diamond interchanges at Pryor Road and Blue Parkway on both sides of I-470, creating what is commonly referred to as a ‘Split-Diamond’ Interchange configuration. The split-diamond interchange will reduce congestion on existing directional and loop ramps at the I-470/US 50/MO 350 Interchange and will provide improved access to local roadway systems at Colbern Road to the north, Chipman Road to the south, Blue Parkway to the east, and Pryor Road to the west. Improving access to the local streets with these improvements will help facilitate residential and employment areas in central Lee’s Summit while reducing congestion through the cloverleaf interchange ramps and weaving sections along U.S. 50 between I-470 and Chipman Road.
