Specialist
General Summary:
The materials specialist performs or assists with conducting tests and investigations of materials and methods used in the construction or repair of transportation systems. Responsibilities are performed under direct supervision.
Minimum/Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree: Civil Engineering or Geological Engineering
Special Working Conditions/Job Characteristics:
Job requires regular, statewide, overnight travel, moderate physical activity, exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment.
The intermediate materials specialist performs or conducts investigations relating to materials and methods used in construction and repair of the highway system. Responsibilities are performed under moderate supervision.
Minimum/Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree: Civil Engineering
Two years of experience in highway or transportation engineering.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Lead Worker Only

The senior materials specialist conducts investigations of materials or construction practices used in highway and bridge construction and maintenance. Responsibilities are performed under general supervision.
Minimum/Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree: Civil Engineering
Four years of experience in highway or transportation engineering.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Lead Worker Only
Special Working Conditions/Job Characteristics:
Job requires regular, statewide, overnight travel.
