Drinking and Driving Don't Mix
Each year on the Fourth of July, we celebrate our country’s independence. One thing that marks our independence as an individual is our ability to drive. Drive impaired and that independence could quickly be taken away from you.
“Don’t risk it – if you plan to drink, don’t drive,” said Leanna Depue, director of Highway Safety. “Designate a driver who has not been drinking.”
Sobriety checkpoints will be set up across the state July 3-5 to deter impaired drivers. Drivers convicted of driving under the influence could be fined $500, face jail time and have their license suspended.
July Fourth is a time to celebrate with food, family and fireworks. Law enforcement is doing their part to ensure you Arrive Alive to your destination. Always wear your seat belt – it’s your best defense against an impaired driver.
