Driving Edge

Want to get an edge on the travel information you need?

MoDOT’s Driving Edge program gives you the tools you need for a quick and safe trip.

Before You Go

star Online Traveler Information Map

MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map shows you what lies ahead before you leave home. The easy-to-use map displays icons for work zones, road closures, incidents and flood conditions, while color-coded highway segments show winter road conditions.

star Traffic Management Centers

Traffic Management Centers in St. Louis, Kansas City and Springfield monitor the roadways, respond to congestion and incidents and deliver real-time information to travelers through the media, Web sites, electronic message signs and highway advisory radio.

Along the Way

star Electronic Message Boards

Forty-eight electronic message boards on Interstates 70 and 44 give information on scheduled road closings, road construction, accidents and hazardous or uncommon road conditions, as well as Amber Alerts for missing children.

star Emergency Reference Markers

Emergency reference markers line Missouri’s 1,200 miles of interstate highways every two-tenths of a mile to help pinpoint your exact location in the event of an emergency.

Anytime Day or Night

star 24/7 Customer Service
You can call MoDOT toll-free anytime day or night to reach a customer service representative. The number is 888-ASK-MODOT (888-275-6636).
star St. Louis 511

St. Louis travelers can dodge congestion by dialing 511 (or 877-4STL-5111) to get around-the-clock, real-time traffic information.

star E-Updates
You can have transportation information automatically sent to your e-mail address. Road closures, project status, public meeting announcements and other topics are included. You can choose the information you want by county, project, district or route.
