CALLAWAY COUNTY - A project to replace the deck and beams of the Auxvasse Creek Bridge on Route 94 in Callaway County is scheduled to begin on Monday, Sept. 19, 2011. The bridge is located between Routes C and CC, approximately three miles east of Mokane.The bridge will be closed to traffic during construction, which is expected to continue through early November. Motorists will be detoured around the work area on Route CC, Route O, and Route C.Lehman Construction, LLC, of California, Mo., was awarded the contract for the bridge improvements after submitting the low bid of $688,439.08.The work is part of MoDOT's Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program, which will improve 800 of Missouri's worst bridges in five years - by the end of 2013. Eighty-seven bridges will be replaced or repaired in the mid-Missouri area as a part of this program.
