Northbound U.S. 63 Cedar Creek Bridge in Callaway County Now Open to Traffic

CALLAWAY COUNTY - The northbound U.S. 63 bridge over Cedar Creek in Callaway County reopened to traffic today.  The bridge has been closed since early April for rehabilitation.  The bridge is located 1.5 miles south of the Boone/Callaway County line.

Both northbound and southbound lanes will be open to traffic during the Memorial Day weekend.  Beginning Tuesday, May 31, crews will continue working in the area.  One northbound lane will close for approximately two weeks as crews paint underneath the bridge.  Periodic lane closures will take place southbound to upgrade guardrail.

Motorists should follow work zone signing, allow additional time for travel and drive with care through the area.

The rehabilitation work is part of MoDOT's Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program, which will improve 800 of Missouri's worst bridges in five years - by the end of 2013. Ninety bridges will be replaced or repaired in the mid-Missouri area as a part of this program. Currently, over 390 of the bridges included in the program have been improved statewide.
