CAMDEN COUNTY - Motorists at the Lake of the Ozarks will soon experience a new traffic configuration on existing U.S. Route 54 in Osage Beach, as part of the new U.S. 54 Expressway construction project. McAninch, Inc., contractor with the Missouri Department of Transportation, will open Osage Beach Parkway South during the early morning hours on Monday, Sept. 20, after paving the tie-in roads during the overnight hours of Sept. 19. The paving work will take place between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., weather permitting. One lane in each direction will be open to motorists on existing Route 54 during the tie-in work.Additional periodic lane closures will occur at the intersection of Route 42 and Route 54 during the overnight hours of Tuesday, Sept. 21 through Friday, Sept. 24, so the contractor can complete some resurfacing at that location. Work near Route 42 is expected to last several nights. The contractor will have various types of traffic control in place to secure the safety of the motoring public as well as their employees. MoDOT encourages motorists to buckle up, slow down, follow work zone signing and drive safely through the area.Osage Beach Parkway South is the new road westbound motorists will use instead of existing Route 54 between Route 42 and Old Bluff Drive, near Walmart. Existing Route 54 will carry eastbound traffic and be called Osage Beach Parkway North at this location.Motorists that wish to access businesses or other lake roads in the opposite direction of their travel can use turn-around connectors at either end of the separated roadway.
