JEFFERSON CITY - Motorists in Fulton will soon find themselves going the "roundabout way" after construction starts on a project at Business Route 54 and Second Street (Route O) in Fulton.MoDOT plans to realign the existing intersection to construct a roundabout, which is an intersection that accommodates traffic flow in one direction around a central circular island. The Stinson Creek Bridge on Business Route 54 and the Stinson Creek Bridge on Second Street will both be removed and replaced with one box culvert.Today the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission added the project to the 2010-2014 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program A public hearing on the project was held in early September.Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-2010. The work is estimated to cost $1.7 million.
