MONITEAU COUNTY - A bridge deck replacement on Route D over the Moniteau Creek Bridge has been completed and the bridge opened to traffic on Sunday, October 4, 2009.The Moniteau Creek Bridge is located four miles northeast of Route KK. The original structure was built in 1958 and was 252 feet long and 20 feet wide. The new bridge deck widens the driving surface to 22 feet.Work began on August 3 and the bridge was closed to traffic during the construction. Additional work continues underneath the bridge at this location as crews remove the bridge forms and paint the structure. The Missouri Department of Transportation extends its thanks to motorists for their patience while the work was underway.The deck replacement cost approximately $298,219. Don Schneiders Excavating Company, Inc. of Jefferson City, Missouri completed the work.The improvements are part of MoDOT's Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program, which will improve 800 of Missouri's worst bridges in five years. Ninety bridges will be replaced or repaired in the mid-Missouri area as a part of this program.Fourteen bridges, including the Moniteau Creek Bridge, have been completed in Central Missouri.
