CAMDEN COUNTY - The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold an open-house public meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 to gather public input about proposed improvements to the U.S. Route 54 intersections in Linn Creek. The meeting will be held from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Lake Career Technical Center, 269 Dare Blvd., in Camdenton, Mo. The location is accessible for the physically disabled.MoDOT is proposing to make improvements along Route 54 at the intersections of Route V and at Business Park Road/East Valley Drive. The improvements are designed to reduce the number and severity of crashes occurring at both locations as motorists enter and exit Route 54. To improve site distance for motorists exiting Route 54, turn lanes will be constructed within the highway median at both intersections. Additionally, the existing intersection of Business Park Road/East Valley Drive will be reconfigured to reduce the number of turning movements at this busy intersection. Vehicles on Route 54 will still be able to exit at Business Park/East Valley. To enter Route 54 from Business Park Road, motorists will use a separate entrance constructed just east of the existing intersection.Right of way and easements may be needed for this project. Work on the intersections could begin in fall 2010.The meeting will be open house style, with no formal presentations made. The public may stop by at any time during the advertised hours to speak with MoDOT employees and provide input. For those who are disabled and require special services at the public meeting, please call 1-888-ASK-MoDOT (275-6636) or TTY 1-800-735-2966 for the hearing impaired so that arrangements for those services can be made. For more information about this project or other transportation-related matters, please call 1-888-ASK-MoDOT (275-6636) or log onto www.modot.org/central.
