Public Hearing Scheduled to Discuss Relocating U.S. Route 50 in Osage County

OSAGE COUNTY - The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold an open-house public hearing on Thursday, Oct. 8 to discuss the proposed design for relocating U.S. Route 50 from the U.S. Route 50/63 interchange to west of Linn.

The meeting will be held from 4-7 p.m. at the Loose Creek Community Center located at 173 County Road 403 in Loose Creek.  The location is accessible to the physically disabled.

The proposed improvements include relocating approximately seven miles of Route 50 in Osage County and constructing a four-lane divided highway.  The project will increase roadway capacity and improve safety.

Additional right of way and easements are needed for the project.  The project is estimated to cost $30 million to construct and could begin in late 2012.  Tentative schedules for construction will be discussed at the hearing.

During the public hearing, no formal presentations will be made.  The public is encouraged to attend at any time during the advertised hours to view the displays and speak with members of the project team.

For those who are disabled and require special services at the public hearing, please call 1-888-ASK-MoDOT (275-6636) or TTY 1-800-735-2966 for the hearing impaired so that arrangements for those services can be made.
