CALLAWAY COUNTY - The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold an open-house public hearing on Tuesday, Sept. 1 to gather public input about proposed improvements at the intersection of Business Route 54 and Second Street (Route O) in Fulton.The hearing will be held from 4-6:30 p.m. at the Council Chamber Room of the Fulton City Hall located at 18 E. 4th Street. The location is accessible to the physically disabled.The proposed improvements include realigning the current intersection of Business Route 54 and Second Street to construct a roundabout. A roundabout is an intersection that accommodates traffic flow in one direction around a central circular island. The Stinson Creek Bridge on Business Route 54 and the Stinson Creek Bridge on Second Street will both be removed and replaced with one box culvert.Additional right of way and easements are needed for the project. The work is estimated to cost $1.7 million and could begin in mid-2010. Tentative schedules for construction will be discussed at the hearing.During the public hearing, no formal presentations will be made.
