JEFFERSON CITY - At their monthly meeting on April 1, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a contract to replace the bridge decks on several bridges in Pettis and Benton Counties. The improvements will be made as part of the Missouri Department of Transportation's Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program. After submitting the low bid of $1,276,914, Lehman Construction, L.L.C. of California, Mo. was awarded the project to complete work on the following bridges:Pettis CountyRoute Y, Muddy Creek Bridge (located two miles west of Route 127)Route H, Muddy Creek Bridge (located four miles west of Route 65)Route E, Basin Fork Creek Bridge (located one mile south of Route B)Route E, Flat Creek Bridge (located 3.5 miles south of Route B)Benton CountyRoute C, Brush Creek Bridge (located 10 miles west of Route 65)The bridge deck on each of these bridges will be replaced. Work is planned for spring, summer and fall 2009 and each bridge will be closed for several weeks during the work. Traffic will be detoured around the work areas. The two bridges on Route E in Pettis County will not be closed at the same time.The Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program will improve 800 of Missouri's worst bridges in five years. Ninety bridges will be replaced or repaired in the mid-Missouri area as a part of this program.
