Route 65 Widening Project

The Missouri Department of Transportation plans to widen Route 65 to four lanes from south of Route 52 to just north of Route 7 in Warsaw.  North of Lincoln, two additional lanes will be added east of the existing lanes. The new lanes would handle northbound traffic and the existing lanes would be reused as the southbound lanes. Through Lincoln, Route 65 would be widened to a five lane, undivided route with two northbound lanes, two southbound lanes and a center turn lane. South of Lincoln, two additional lanes will be constructed. Several transitions will be used to switch between an eastern widening and a western widening for this portion of Route 65.

Bridge Improvements

American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

The Missouri Department of Transportation will improve four bridges on the state highway system in Benton County:

  • Route 7 over the Osage Arm of the Truman Reservoir, located east of Route KK
  • Route 7 over the Grand Arm of the Truman Reservoir, just north of Route Z
  • Route 83 over the Pomme De Terre Arm of the Truman Reservoir, north of Route K near Whitakerville
  • Route 65 over the Lake of the Ozarks, just north of Route 83 in Warsaw.

The work on Route 7 and Route 83 includes bridge deck rehabilitation to improve the driving surface. One lane of each bridge will remain open while work is taking place.

On Route 65, the bridge deck will be rehabilitated and it will be striped to include two northbound lanes and one southbound lane. This new striping is being done to increase safety and traffic flow by giving Route 83 traffic its own lane across the bridge instead of merging with Route 65 traffic before the bridge. Two lanes will remain open on the Route 65 bridge during the work, but lanes may be narrowed.

Work will take place between summer 2009 and fall 2010.
